Where to Stay in Bohol: Choose an Area, Not a Hotel List

Independently researched. Last checked 12 August 2026. No SiquiRide hotel “picks.” Confirm rates and cancellation on the booking page before you pay.

This page answers where on the island to sleep. It does not rank resorts.

The destination overview is the Bohol Travel Guide. What to do once the base is chosen: Things to Do in Bohol. Dedicated stay-decision and hotel-type pages publish after this one — they are not live yet.

30-Second Answer

Practical first-trip recommendation: Panglao. The airport is on that island. Most hotels, dive boats and countryside-tour pickups concentrate there. That is infrastructure, not a slogan.

Choose Alona if you want restaurants, dive shops and walkable evening food.

Choose another Panglao beach if you want the same logistics without the strip.

Choose Tagbilaran if you have a dawn ferry.

Choose Anda only if the trip is long enough — commonly 2.5–3 hours from Panglao.

Choose Loboc only if the river is the holiday.

Do not split a 3-day trip across Panglao and Anda. You will live in a van.

Why Panglao is the practical first-trip base

A recommendation, with reasons you can check:

  • TAG airport is on Panglao, not in Tagbilaran.
  • Provincial tourism highlights Panglao and Anda as the well-known beach areas.
  • Booking platforms show the largest hotel cluster on Panglao / Alona.
  • Countryside vans and island-hopping boats advertise Panglao / Alona pickup.
  • GrabCar, per official tourism, covers Tagbilaran–Dauis–Panglao only.

If your trip is hills + reef + one arrival day, sleeping anywhere else adds transfer time you do not have.

Anda-first, Tagbilaran-only and Loboc-first trips are valid. They are different products.

Area comparison

Area Best for Trade-off
Panglao (near Alona) First trip, diving, tours, food Noise, touts, premium beachfront rates
Panglao (not Alona) Beach + same island logistics You will ride or tricycle to Alona for boats and nightlife
Dauis Quieter, still close to TAG and the city Not a “scene”; Hinagdanan is here
Tagbilaran Ferries, ATMs, malls, early departures Not a beach holiday
Loboc River lodges, slow evenings Far from reef and airport
Carmen / Sagbayan Sunrise over the Chocolate Hills You gave up the beach and the boats
Anda Quieter sand, caves, east-coast nature 2.5–3 hrs from Panglao; thin evening services

Match the base to the traveler

You want Sleep
First visit, easiest logistics Panglao, near Alona
Beach without bars Panglao, not Alona (e.g. Dumaluan / Danao)
Diving Panglao
Tomorrow’s 6 AM ferry Tagbilaran
River and quiet nights Loboc
Emptier sand Anda, on a 4-day trip or as a second base
Lowest room rate Tagbilaran or backstreet Panglao

Coming from Siquijor, you will dock in Tagbilaran. You do not have to sleep there. Plan the hop with Siquijor to Bohol context on the hub and the first-hand Siquijor DIY Travel Guide.

Indicative nightly ranges

From current booking-platform listings (August 2026). Not quotes. Not SiquiRide rates.

Band Typical published range What that usually means
Budget / hostel ₱800–₱2,500 Fan or simple AC; walk to Alona or a city street
Mid-range ₱3,000–₱8,000 Pool, AC, often a short ride from sand
Resort / upscale ₱8,000–₱20,000+ Beachfront or villa — mostly Panglao, a few Anda properties

Peak weeks (Christmas, Holy Week, March–May) jump. Habagat months often drop.

Planning to stay in Panglao?

Compare current hotels on Panglao Island (area search — not a single property). Tagbilaran, Loboc and Anda booking links publish on the dedicated stay-booking page after this one. A quieter-Panglao search stays unlinked until a distinct deeplink is supplied.

Check Panglao hotels

Some booking links on this page may earn SiquiRide a commission at no additional cost to you.

What usually wastes a short trip

  • Two bases in three nights.
  • A Carmen hotel “to be near the hills” when you also want Balicasag.
  • Assuming every “Panglao” map pin is walkable to Alona. Check the beach name.
  • Leaving a 4:30 AM port transfer to chance. Sleep in Tagbilaran or pre-book. Grab is the wrong tool at that hour (Tagbilaran–Dauis–Panglao only).

How stay choice locks the rest of the plan

  • Panglao → countryside van pickup is easy; boat day is easy; 2- / 3- / 4-day plans work as written on the hub.
  • Tagbilaran → add 30–50 minutes each time a van collects you for hills or boats.
  • Anda → invert the trip: east-coast nature first, then a long transfer if you still want Alona boats.
