Bohol is warm all year. You are choosing among rain, swell, crowds, price and the color of the Chocolate Hills — not among “good” and “impossible.”

Drier seas and easier boat days: November–May (Amihan).
Postcard brown hills: typically late dry season, April–May, if rain has been low.
Green hills, fewer people, lower rates: June–October (Habagat), with a flexible marine day.
Book furthest ahead: Christmas–New Year, Holy Week, March–May.

A 3-day plan (countryside + marine + an arrival buffer) works in any month if you can move the boat day. A rigid Balicasag reservation in September is the fragile plan.

Holy Week and mid-December to early January fill Alona and the fast craft. Book the bed and the arrival before the tour.

What season does not change

  • Distances. Carmen is still 75–120 minutes from Panglao. Anda is still a long transfer. Getting Around Bohol.
  • Grab still does not cover the interior (Tagbilaran–Dauis–Panglao only).
  • Tarsier rules (no flash, no handling) are year-round.
  • You still need cash at countryside gates.

Packing that actually depends on the month

  • Nov–May: sun, reef-safe sunscreen, light cover for the van.
  • Mar–May: extra water discipline on the hills day. Start earlier than you think.
  • Jun–Oct: light rain layer, dry bag for the ferry and scooter, flexible boat booking.
  • Any month on a scooter: closed shoes, not just flip-flops.
