Do not treat every tour add-on as mandatory. Butterfly gardens and “mirror of the world” stops fill a van schedule. They are not why people come.

1. Chocolate Hills

The reason most people can name Bohol. UNESCO’s geopark listing records 1,268 conical limestone hills, about 30–400 meters high. They are green after rain and brown late in a dry season.

The public viewpoint most tours use is the Chocolate Hills Complex in Carmen. Sagbayan Peak is a private alternative. From Panglao, plan 75–120 minutes each way. That single fact is why the hills are a day, not a sunset errand.

Entrance fees reported in 2025–2026 sit in a ₱100–₱150 band for non-residents. Confirm at the gate.

2. Philippine tarsiers

One of the world’s smallest primates. Nocturnal. Easily stressed. Not a photo prop.

4. Loboc River

A freshwater cruise through a green gorge, usually with a buffet and onboard music. The river is the reason to go. Traveler reports on food and entertainment are mixed.

Commonly reported cruise + lunch: ₱350–₱550 per person, sometimes plus a separate charge. Confirm when you buy the ticket.

Loboc also has a handful of riverside lodges. Stay there only if the river is the holiday — not as a “shortcut” to the hills. Carmen is still a drive.

5. Panglao beaches, island hopping, diving

Alona is the commercial strip: dive shops, restaurants, boat touts. Convenient. Not the quietest sand.

The standard boat day is Balicasag + Virgin Island, sometimes with a dawn dolphin-watching run.

Balicasag — sanctuary, turtles, wall. Snorkel and dive.
Virgin Island — sandbar. Photographs, not a full beach day.

Boats are usually per boat (research range ₱2,700–₱6,500+), plus sanctuary fees. Groups win. Solos should join a shared trip or accept the per-boat math.

Diving is a different product from the tourist snorkel day. If diving is the point of the trip, pick the hotel for the boat schedule — which usually means Panglao.

Keep the boat day off the countryside day. Do not stack them.
