Island Gear Essentials for Your Siquijor Adventure
Book a Scooter in Siquijor
Reserve Before You Arrive — Ride the Island Your Way
Siquijor is small enough to feel intimate and large enough to surprise you. The island's best spots — hidden beaches, tiered waterfalls, 400-year-old trees, quiet mountain roads — are spread across 337 square kilometers of coastline and interior. You cannot reach them waiting for a tricycle. You cannot feel them from the back of a habal-habal.
The best way to experience Siquijor is on your own scooter, on your own schedule, with no group to keep up with and no driver to negotiate with. SiquiRide makes that easy — reserve your unit online before you arrive and your scooter will be ready when you step off the ferry.

Reserve My Scooter →Why You Should Book Your Scooter Before Arriving in Siquijor
Most travelers make the same mistake: they assume they can sort out transport when they land. On a quiet Tuesday in June, that might work. During Holy Week, Christmas week, or any long weekend — it will not.
Siquijor has a limited number of quality scooter rental units on the island. When demand peaks, the good units go fast. What remains are older, poorly maintained scooters from informal operators — no inspection, no helmet, no support if something goes wrong on the road.
Booking ahead means:
- Your unit is reserved and waiting — no scrambling on arrival day
- You get a well-maintained, inspected scooter — not whatever is left
- Your trip starts the moment you step off the ferry, not two hours later
- You can plan your itinerary in advance with confidence
- You avoid the stress of negotiating with strangers at the port
SiquiRide tip: Peak season in Siquijor runs from December to April, with Holy Week being the busiest period of the year. If you are visiting during these months, reserve your scooter at least one week in advance.
Can I just rent when I arrive? You can try — but availability is not guaranteed, especially during peak season. Units from informal operators may not be inspected, may not include helmets and may leave you stranded if something goes wrong. Booking ahead with SiquiRide eliminates all of that.

Safety on Siquijor Roads
Siquijor's roads are manageable — but they are not without hazards. Here is what to expect and how to ride safely.
- Coastal roads: Paved, generally smooth, scenic — good for all confident riders
- Mountain roads: Narrower, steeper, some rough sections — require more experience
- After rain: Roads stay slippery longer than they look, especially on shaded mountain sections
- Villages: Slow down — children, animals and pedestrians appear without warning
- Night riding: Not recommended on unfamiliar roads
Always wear your helmet. Always. Ayaw kalimot sa helmet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just rent a scooter when I arrive in Siquijor?
You can try, but availability is not guaranteed. During peak season (December–April, Holy Week, long weekends), quality units are often fully booked. Informal operators at the port may have scooters available, but these are often poorly maintained and may not include helmets or roadside support. Booking ahead with SiquiRide guarantees your unit and eliminates the stress of sorting transport on arrival day.
How far in advance should I book?
For off-peak travel (May–November), 2–3 days in advance is usually sufficient. For peak season (December–April) and especially Holy Week, book at least one week in advance. For Christmas and New Year, book 2–3 weeks ahead.
Is booking online safe?
Yes. SiquiRide does not require upfront payment to reserve your scooter. You fill out the reservation form, we confirm via WhatsApp or Messenger and you pay the ₱300 deposit in cash at pickup. No credit card required, no online payment risk.
What if I need to cancel or change my reservation?
Just message us on WhatsApp as early as possible. We understand that travel plans change, especially with ferry schedules. We will do our best to accommodate changes. See our Terms & Conditions for the full cancellation policy.
What if my ferry is delayed?
Message us on WhatsApp with your updated arrival time. Ferry delays are common in the Philippines and we plan for them. Your reservation will not be cancelled due to a ferry delay.
Do I need an international driver's license?
An International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended for non-Filipino license holders. Your home country license is generally accepted by rental shops in Siquijor, but having an IDP provides additional legal coverage. Confirm with us when you book.
Can two people ride on one scooter?
Yes, if the scooter is rated for two riders and both riders are comfortable. The Yamaha Fazzio 125 is better suited for two riders than the Honda Click 125. Confirm when booking if you need a unit for two.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Our standard rental is daily. We do not offer hourly rentals. Minimum rental is one full day. Multi-day rentals are available and recommended for travelers staying 2 or more nights.
What is included in the rental?
Every SiquiRide rental includes the scooter unit, a helmet, a pre-ride inspection and basic roadside support. Fuel is not included — you will need to fill up before heading out. We will confirm the fuel level at pickup.
What happens if the scooter breaks down?
Message us immediately on WhatsApp. We will advise you on the nearest repair shop or arrange support depending on the situation. This is one of the key advantages of booking with a local provider rather than an informal operator.
Do I really need a scooter in Siquijor?
Not strictly — tricycles and private drivers are available. But a scooter gives you a level of freedom and access that no other transport option can match. The best spots in Siquijor are not on the main road. They are down narrow barangay paths, up mountain tracks and along quiet coastal stretches that you will only find if you are riding on your own. If you are a confident rider, a scooter is the best way to experience the island.
What if I am not comfortable riding a scooter?
We will tell you honestly. Siquijor is not a good place to learn to ride from scratch. If you are not confident, we recommend hiring a private driver or joining a guided tour. → Browse Private Tours in Siquijor
