Island Gear Essentials for Your Siquijor Adventure

Scooter Rental Terms & Conditions

At SiquiRide, we believe that clear expectations make for better experiences. These Terms & Conditions are not here to intimidate you — they exist to make your rental fair, safe, and enjoyable for everyone involved. Please read through them before your rental begins. If you have any questions, just ask us.

1. Eligibility

To rent a scooter from SiquiRide, you must:

  • Hold a valid motorcycle or scooter driver's license from your home country or an International Driving Permit (IDP)
  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Be legally permitted to operate a motorcycle or scooter under Philippine law
  • Be in a fit physical and mental condition to ride safely

Foreign visitors are responsible for ensuring their license is valid for use in the Philippines. A car-only license is not sufficient. If you are unsure, please contact us before booking.

2. Booking & Payment

Reservations

Bookings can be made via our website, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or by phone. A booking is confirmed once you receive written confirmation from SiquiRide.

Payment Methods

We currently accept: GCash and Cash (Philippine Peso). Payment is typically collected at the time of pickup unless otherwise agreed.

Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit of ₱300.00 is required at the time of pickup. This will be returned in full at the end of your rental, provided the scooter is returned in the same condition it was received.

Confirmation

You will receive a booking confirmation via your preferred contact method. Please keep this for your records.

3. Rental Period

Pick-Up

Please arrive at the agreed pick-up time and location. If you anticipate a delay, contact us as early as possible so we can make arrangements.

Return

The scooter must be returned by the agreed return time and to the agreed location. Please ensure the scooter is fueled to the same level as when it was received.

Extensions

If you wish to extend your rental, please notify us as early as possible — ideally the day before your rental ends. Extensions are subject to availability and must be confirmed in writing.

Late Returns

Late returns without prior notice may incur additional charges. We understand that travel plans change — just communicate with us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Early Returns

If you return the scooter earlier than planned, please notify us in advance. Refunds for unused rental days are at SiquiRide's discretion.

4. Scooter Condition

Pre-Rental Inspection

Before you ride, we will walk through the scooter together and note any existing damage. You are encouraged to inspect the scooter carefully and raise any concerns before departure. Once you leave, you accept the scooter in its current condition.

Fuel

Scooters are provided with a specified fuel level. Please return the scooter with the same fuel level. Failure to do so may result in a fuel charge.

Returning the Scooter

The scooter must be returned clean and in the same condition as received, with no new damage beyond normal wear and tear.

5. Renter Responsibilities

As a renter, you agree to:

  • Wear a helmet at all times while riding — helmets are provided with every rental
  • Follow all Philippine traffic laws and road rules
  • Ride safely and responsibly at all times
  • Park only in designated or appropriate areas
  • Secure the scooter with the provided lock when unattended
  • Respect local communities, roads, and the natural environment
  • Take reasonable care of the vehicle throughout the rental period
  • Not allow any other person to operate the scooter without prior written consent from SiquiRide

6. Prohibited Use

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Riding under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs judgment
  • Racing or reckless riding of any kind
  • Off-road use unless explicitly permitted by SiquiRide in writing
  • Carrying more passengers than the scooter is designed for (maximum one passenger)
  • Using the scooter for any illegal activity
  • Subletting or lending the scooter to another person without prior written consent
  • Transporting the scooter off Siquijor Island without prior written consent

Violation of any of the above may result in immediate termination of the rental without refund and full liability for any resulting damage.

7. Accidents, Damage & Theft

In the Event of an Accident

If you are involved in an accident, please:

  1. Ensure your safety and the safety of others first
  2. Contact SiquiRide immediately at 09692406836
  3. Do not move the scooter if it may be needed for a police report
  4. File a police report if there is injury, significant damage, or a third party involved
  5. Do not admit fault or make any payments to third parties without consulting SiquiRide first

Damage

The renter is responsible for any damage to the scooter that occurs during the rental period, beyond normal wear and tear. Damage costs will be assessed fairly and transparently. We will always explain any charges before they are applied.

Theft

In the event of theft, report it to the local police immediately and contact SiquiRide. A copy of the police report will be required. The renter may be held liable for the cost of the scooter if theft occurred due to negligence (e.g., leaving the scooter unsecured).

8. Mechanical Problems & Roadside Assistance

SiquiRide maintains all scooters regularly. However, mechanical issues can occasionally occur.

If your scooter develops a mechanical problem during your rental:

  • Stop riding safely and contact us immediately at 09692406836
  • Do not attempt to repair the scooter yourself
  • We will assess the situation and arrange assistance as quickly as possible

Mechanical failures caused by normal use will be handled by SiquiRide at no cost to the renter. Damage caused by misuse, accidents, or rider error is the renter's responsibility.

9. Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations by the Renter

  • Cancellations made 48 hours or more before your pickup time: full refund of any deposit paid
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your pickup time: no refund
  • No-shows without prior notice: no refund

Weather, Ferry Cancellations & Emergencies

We understand that getting to Siquijor depends on ferries, flights, and weather — all things outside your control. If you need to cancel or reschedule due to a ferry cancellation, severe weather, or a genuine emergency, please contact us as soon as possible. We will prioritize rescheduling your booking at no penalty. Refunds in these cases are handled at SiquiRide's discretion and assessed fairly on a case-by-case basis.

Cancellations by SiquiRide

In the rare event that SiquiRide must cancel your booking, you will receive a full refund of any amount paid.

10. Liability

Riding a scooter involves inherent risks. By renting from SiquiRide, you acknowledge that you understand and accept these risks.

SiquiRide is committed to providing well-maintained, roadworthy scooters. However, we cannot guarantee that all road, weather, or traffic conditions will be safe at all times. Renters are responsible for riding within their own skill level and adjusting to conditions on the road.

SiquiRide is not liable for personal injury, loss of personal belongings, or third-party claims arising from the use of the rented scooter, except where required by applicable Philippine law.

11. Privacy

Any personal information you provide to SiquiRide — including your name, contact details, and license information — is collected solely for the purpose of processing your rental and communicating with you. We handle your information responsibly and do not share it with third parties without your consent.

For full details, please read our Privacy Policy.
